Piercing place is up front and you have to go thru the alley entrance for tattoos. Follow the cool mural around the corner, space is limited so no more than a few ppl inside at a time. My experience: literally last weekend-The shop was booked, we were trying to get two bookings for a small tat (traveled from TX and only in town for that weekend-had to leave bc covid restrictions were about to start) so we asked to be squeezed in if any cancelations came up-even if it was just one of us. We both got squeezed in and our artist was very sweet and accommodating. My 20yo son explained that he wanted the red star from Jojo’s anime, she looked up the actual template and made it happen. Pics are from the day of and 1wk later-no peeling, feels great! ALSO–the waves took my nose ring so I actually got help from both store fronts. You do need to have an appointment and I was thankful to be squeezed in on both storefronts inbetween clients. I purchased a titanium opal nose ring with a flat anc…

This place is a really good spot to come to, I’ll for sure get more work done when I come back to the island. I did a walk in and I recommend you email them before the open to be able to get good info on whats going on for the day. I got work done by Brian and I’m really happy with what I got done. He ended up doing a custom peace and it came out better than what I came in with. And he made my experience there every welcoming. I recommend this spot if you out in Waikiki. Again thanks for everything.

4. Sua Suluape Toetu’u Aisea, Joel Albanez and Lucky Olelo- Soul Signature Tattoo and Art Studio

Established by Sun Suluape Toetu’u Aisea, Joel Albanez, and Lucky Olelo in 2005, Soul Signature Tattoo has become a top tattoo store in Hawaii. During the 1990s, he was a member of the generation that provided the “New Tribal” campaign, which is an establishment for contemporary Polynesian tattoos. Using distinctive styles from Asian art, illustration, and graffiti, we formulated tribular designs from the Pacific Islands.

He has trouble nailing down a concept of “style” because he is always traversing and accelerating the boundaries. Every tattoo is a possibility for him to get new techniques to work with the client’s acknowledgment. In this fashion, every person who carries his work is also wearing a description of his imaginative journey at that appropriate point in time. The Tongan emigrant he was born to, as well as the Hawaiian/Filipino parentage from his mother, raised in Hawaii. At a very youthful age, his brother and he began managing as landscapers. Many of the younger engenderings seem to have refrained from whatever is expected to take care of themselves and take their speculations, something that Tongans are distinguished for.

His tattooing profession began when he was about 14 years old, using handmade tattoo machines.  While exploring designs, he turned up at the library where he came across lithographs of the Tongan Tatau, which transformed his life entirely, and that documentary he is composing is the result. As a Tahitian tattoo artist, he joined Tahitian tattooist Fredrick “Pooino” Yorandi, and as an anthropologist, he met Tricia Allen, a Polynesian tattooist. In 1997, under the leadership and direction of Tricia Allen, he tended his first tattoo conversation in Toronto, Canada, and never glanced back.

He started tattooing as a hobby, which changed into a full-time job, and then emerged into helping people correlate with their cultural ancestry using art. Having the possibility to visit and meet people from a distinct range of cultures is a gratifying art of tattooing. They reassure him every day so that he can keep growing through his creation.

Incipiently from Mexico, Joel Albanez commenced tattooing in 1999. Collectively with Joel Albanez’s artistic imagination and Suluape Aisea Toetu’u’s expertise and supervision, the three of them sparked Soul Signature in 2004. This is his masterpiece: Asian contemporary tattoos. Graffiti equipped him with the opportunity to associate with many talented and prolific young people. Humble Beginnings tattoo shop was established by Orly Loquiao (owner and originator). Upon understanding about the tattoo world, he was pinned. After convening Suluape Aisea, Po’oino Yrondi, and Mike Ledger, he went to assemble Suluape Aisea. We served together at New tribal Polynesian Tattoo in Waikiki, where he subserved his apprenticeship. The tattooing community fascinates me from all corners and angles. There’s a system for everything. There is no such entity as knowing everything. You are perpetually learning and continually being overcome when you repeat any art form.

Since 2004, Soul Signature Tattoo and Art Studio have extended family-friendly tattoo assistance on Oahu. The receptionist greets walk-ins Monday through Saturday, but appointments on Sundays. The pattern is stimulated by distinct cultures and customs. Each tattoo artist takes a religious, professional, and artistic strategy to their work. They are appreciated for being friendly, accommodating, and trained to their patrons. We at Soul Signature Tattoo and Studio have matched our studio with expert professionals who are all enthusiastic about giving our customers an exceptional experience. They contribute answers to commonly asked questions on their website concerning their assistance. TV programs and publications have highlighted Soul Signature Tattoo and Art Studio.

The 808 Tattoo studio has been performing in Hawaii for more than 15 years. Since its inception in 1997, the Kaneohe tattoo studio has attained distinction in the industry. Customers come from near and far to get tattoos at the workshop. Clients can determine from a variety of design customs, as there are a diversity of artists associated. Eight Zero Eight Tattoo was a conqueror of the Star Adviser’s People’s Choice award and Honolulu Pulse’s Best Tattoo Parlor of the Year citation.

In 2004, Billy Whitney founded the 808 Tattoo company in Hawaii.  Hawaii’s 808 Tattoo salon has become glorified as one of the most distinguished tattoo parlors in the nation.  The studio’s tattoo artists are well-identified everywhere in the state. There are multiple tattoo styles ready for their customers because each of their artists has an unconventional style.

It is their commitment that they are pleased with, and you can rest convinced that their specialists will work with you until you are content with your custom artwork.

We are delighted to greet walk-ins for open consultation. The first 15 years of his time were spent in Okinawa, Japan, where Billy Whitney was born. He graduated from Mililani High School in Hawaii after his dad relocated him there. The islands have been his residence since he was a little boy. He would never think of living anywhere else.

1998 was the year he acquired his first tattoo. He rather much sucked it up until a guy named Jesse Perrin convened him down and explained to him all the ins and outs of tattooing. In addition to informing him how to accurately harmonize a machine and make needles, he trained him on the basics of tattooing that made him the genius he is today.

Toward the end of 2000, he started working for a shop called Gunpoint, under the control of a man named Shane Harvey. He was presented with surpassing working conditions and enabled to improve his style under Shane’s guidance. Within a few years, he understood he desired to specialize in custom tattooing. Although he fancied working with all the Gunpoint tattoo artists (aside from one), he located the street shop atmosphere not stimulating enough.

He spent a while in Japan after leaving Gunpoint working at Coko’s Tattoo, where Mako, Ken, and Hiro brought him in as a son, and he will always be appreciative for that. Additionally, they dispensed with him their experience and expertise about Asian art and tattoos. There is no means he could have ever presumed all the things he acquired! The two of them determined to open 808 Tattoo when Brian Takishita (of Gunpoint) returned from Japan. We intend to create a convenient and customized tattoo salon that will attract both earnest collectors and those who contemplate tattoos as pure art.

Just to set the account straight, for whatever reason some people have requested he had tattooed them, but if they are not registered here, they are just doing stuff up. It should be approved to him that someone else has been preparing him how to tattoo.

10. Lance McLain- Dragon Tattoo

The Dragon Tattoo in Wahiawa, an unusual tattoo shop with “old school” designs from tattoo artist Lance McLain, operates with tattoos since the 1970s. The typical American style is often distinguished by the aggregate of bold colors and dark lines. The attentive service, cleanliness, and down-to-earth strategy have often been applauded by previous consumers.

As one of the latest Sailor Jerry lineage tattoo artists who are still studying the old-fashioned or classic American tradition, Lance McLain, who operates Dragon Tattoo in Wahiawa, owns and administers the shop in the Old School style. His mom worked as a secretary for Universal Studios in Burbank, California, where McLain grew up. One of his friends’ parents was an animator, set builder, electrician, and lighting technician for Hollywood movies. His childhood was dedicated principally to watching television, according to McLain. “They didn’t know it was damaging for kids back then. I was being drafted early with models of movies going through my head, so that is indicated in my work. In 1972 he joined the Navy and was assigned to San Diego, where he coincided with tattoo artists Don Ed Hardy, Mike Malone, and Zeke Owen and understood he had unearthed his calling. Sailor Jerry’s flash was manifested to McLain by Hardy and Owens and McLain assured that he would one day coincide with him. While McLain’s ship was anchored in Honolulu, he took a bus to Chinatown and spent three days reviewing tattooing with Sailor Jerry.

Almost a year after Sailor Jerry departed, his widow sold China Sea Tattoo to Mike Malone, who chose McLain to be his assistant. Malone taught him both the fundamentals and more exquisite aspects of tattooing, as well as sharing his trade secrets with him. McLain operated for Malone for more than a decade, until the shop he had held in Waikiki was auctioned by Malone.

Contrasted to Sailor Jerry’s pinup girls, McLain’s pinups have more flexible, more exposed sketches. Notwithstanding the deceptively manageable quality of his work, it is characterized by bold, vivid colors and thick shapes, as well as strong, dark lines. He does not confuse with complex shading, or tones, or distinctions. “There’s a rule in tattooing that if someone can’t perceive what they’re looking at in seven seconds, your tattoo has not been successful, “ affirms McLain. “It has to be immediate, and it has to be absorbed instantaneously.”
