Daniel Munthe Agger is a Danish retired Football player and a Tattoo Artist. He has played as a Central Defender for Brøndby IF and Liverpool, and has been the Captain of the ‘Denmark National Team’. Daniel was named the ‘Danish Football Player‘ of the Year in 2007 and 2012. Daniel Agger is a huge fan of tattoos which is why he is also a professional tattoo artist and has even done tattoos on himself. Let us take a look at his tattoos and the meanings they hold.
1. ‘Necklace’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Daniel’s contains the tattoo of a necklace whose chain reaches down till his stomach ending with a large pendant with the names Jamie ’09 and Mason ’12 written on it.
Meaning: Jamie and Mason are the names of Agger’s sons for whom he got this tattoo done.
2. ‘MOM and DAD’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Daniel is such a family guy that he has tattoos for all of his closest family members. Each of his calves contains the tattoos of a heart being stabbed by an ornate blade and surrounded by flowers. Banners on his left and right calves are inked with the words, Mom and Dad, respectively.
Meaning: Daniel got these tattoos done to show his love for his parents.
3. ‘YNWA’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Each of the knuckles of Daniel’s right hand contain a letter which together spells out, YNWA.
Meaning: The letters mean, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and it is his loyalty tattoo to Liverpool FC where he played football. This is also the Motto of Liverpool FC.
“I’d thought about it for a long time. As I said, I feel a part of this club – and I feel a part of this city. I have been here so long now, so it was an easy decision. I am proud to be here and I think my knuckles show that.”
4. ‘Stars and Dots’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Both of Daniel’s legs are covered in various tattoos but just above his Mom and Dad heart tattoo, his legs are covered in multiple dots and stars along with spiders, words like VSIGH and a Biker tattoo of a skull riding a motorcycle.
5. Left Arm Tattoos
Tattoo: Daniel’s left shoulder contains the tattoo of the flag of Denmark with a pattern over it. Just below the pattern is a tattoo of the Greek God, Zeus along with an Eagle which is the form the God took. The face of Zeus is made with flames in front of it and a lightning blue sky behind him. Just below this is a band tattoo of patterns along with old letters inked in between bands. And just below them, there is a tattoo of the face of the Joker, laughing maniacally. His left hand’s ring finger also contains a tattoo of a ring filled with lightning bolts.
6. ‘Lady, Scales and the Flag’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Daniel’s right forearm contains the tattoo of a lady along with Green Scales. The flag of Denmark is also inked just below the lady.
7. ‘Liverpool’ Tattoo
Tattoo: The right hand of the footballer contains the tattoo of the Liverpool logo bird inked on his index and ring fingers. And a crescent moon inked on his palm along with a straw in its mouth.
Meaning: This is another one of his tattoos to honour his club, Liverpool FC.
8. ‘Snake’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Daniel’s right hand contains the tattoo of a snake biting a hand and making it bleed.
9. Chest and Stomach Tattoos
Tattoo: Just inside the chain of his necklace tattoo is the tattoo of a ‘Flaming Heart with stars’ which is surrounded by patterns and ‘two birds’ flying towards the heart. The birds are surrounded by flowers and his neck contains ‘a chain of stars’ to complete this piece. Daniel’s right pec contains the tattoo of ‘an attacking snake‘ with its fangs and tongue out. His left pec contains the tattoo of a ‘Panther‘ trying to climb his way to the top. Daniel’s stomach contains the ‘tattoos of leaves and flowers‘ and the ‘face of a Girl‘.
10. ‘Viking Angel’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Agger’s right shoulder contains the tattoo of a ‘Viking with Wings‘ kneeling down on his knee in front of a tombstone with the name, ‘MORES‘ written on it. There is also a skull inked behind the Viking’s right-wing.
11. ‘Upper back’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Daniel’s upper back contains the tattoo of a ‘field of trees’ with ‘the sun’ shining above them. There is also a ‘large tree’ on which ‘two little flags of Denmark’ are waving. There are two ‘Chinese symbols‘ inked on either side. Just below his neck is a faded tattoo of the year, ‘1984‘ and over it, the words, “Mors Certa, Hora Incerta” are inked in dark.
Meaning: 1984 is the birth year of the football star and the Latin proverb ‘Mors Certa, Hora Incerta’ means, “Death is certain, It’s hour is not.”
12. ‘Viking Village’ Tattoo
Tattoo: The midsection of his back contains the tattoo of a scene of a Viking village with ‘Holger Danske‘ who is a Danish Folk Legend, sitting in between the graves of famous kings. These kings represent the graves of four legendary Danish Kings, namely Gorm den Gamle (Gorm the Old), Harald Blatand (Harald ’Bluetooth’ Gormsson), Svend Tveskæg (Sweyn I Forkbeard) and Knud den Store (Cnut the Great) who all ruled over Denmark and various parts of Europe, including England, Norway and Sweden at the time of 10th and 11th century.
13. ‘Vikings’ Tattoo
Tattoo: There is a tattoo of three Viking faces on Daniel’s lower back.
Meaning: The Vikings represent the famous Danish proverb to “to see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.” The three Viking heads on his lower back illustrate the proverb well. The ‘nothing seen’ is represented by the crosses over the eyes of the first Viking, ‘nothing heard’ is reflected by no ears on another of the Vikings, and nothing said is represented on the last Viking as his lips are sown.
14. ‘Sun’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Daniel’s left palm contains the tattoo of the Sun in sunglasses with a straw in its mouth.
15. ‘Ankle’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Both of Daniel’s ankles contains a band ankle tattoo of words carrying the inscriptions on his ankles, which states that ‘pain is temporary, victory is forever’.
16. ‘Mason’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Daniel’s left thigh contains the same tattoo of his loved ones, a dagger piercing a heart surrounded by flowers. A banner across the heart contains the name, Mason written on it.
Meaning: This is another tattoo for his beloved son, Mason.
17. ‘Leg’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Daniel’s left shin contains the tattoo of a heart surrounded by flowers and a knife resting on the Earth. Just above his ankle is a tattoo design resembling a cartoon UFO.
18. ‘Mustang’ Tattoo
Tattoo: The inner side of Daniel’s right forearm contains the tattoo of a mustang. His bicep contains the tattoo of a flower and clouds. His right arm is also covered in tattoos very hard to make out.
19. Side Tattoo
Tattoo: The left side of Daniel’s body contains the tattoo of fishes and planets and stars inked on a blue night sky background.
20. ‘Flying Bird and a face burning in flames’ Tattoo
Daniel has a flying bird inked on his left arm surrounded by burning face in flames inked in orange.
21. ‘Knee and Thigh’ Tattoos
Tattoo: Daniel has multiple tattoos on both his knee caps. The right one carries an ink of a huge cobweb whereas on the left there exists a huge eye. The side of his left thigh has a tribal ink of the face of a lady.

The knuckles of his left hand also contain the tattoos of eyes and the letter U.
