Lucas Hernandez’ 9 Tattoos & Their Meanings

Lucas François Bernard Hernandez is a French professional football player. He plays as a defender for the France National Team as well as for the Bundesliga club, Bayern Munich. Hernandez joined Bayern after departing from Athletico Madrid in 2019 and won the Bundesliga Title,  DFB-Pokal, and the Champions League with Bayern in 2020. Tattoo: The outer side of his right forearm contains the quote, “Lucha por lo que quieres” tattooed on it.

Meaning: The Spanish quote on the footballer’s arm translates to, “Fight for what you want” which is how he leads, on and off the field.

2. Rome Tattoo

Tattoo: The inner and upper side of his right forearm is covered in loads of tattoos of pieces from Rome, containing Roman numerals, a statue of Julius Caesar, and another one of the Colosseum near his wrist.

Meaning: The main tattoo among these is the tattoo of the statue of Julius Caeser. While talking in an interview, Lucas revealed, “Here in my arms I have a warrior and a general. These are Achilles and Julius Caesar. Because I am a warrior in the square.” There is another tattoo of the warrior, Achilles on his right arm, as you will soon find out.

3. ‘Staircase and Achilles’ Tattoo

Tattoo: There is a tattoo of a staircase leading up to a shrine on his right arm, just above his elbow. The tattoo of a statue of Achilles is present on the upper side of his right forearm. There are also greek letters and words tattooed near the staircase, on parchment to complete the whole design.

Meaning: Achilles was a great greek warrior, which is why Lucas got this tattoo to showcase his own warrior spirit that he exhibits while playing.

4. Angel Tattoo

Tattoo: The shoulder of the player contains another tattoo done in the style of a statue but is of an angel.

Meaning: The tattoo is of a guardian angel that is a symbol of protection for Lucas as well as his family. The angel is also surrounded by greek wordings to complete his upper arm space.

Tattoo: The right bicep of the footballer contains a tattoo of a bird on it along with the names, “Bernard”, “Marie France”, “Laurence”, and “Theo” tattooed next to it.

Meaning: While showcasing his tattoos, he said, “I have a guardian angel. And up here I have the names of my family.” The names on his right bicep represent the names of his family members. Bernard represents Lucas’ own middle name. Laurence represents the name of his mother, Laurence Py, and Theo is the name of his brother.

Tattoo: The left side of his body contains a tattoo of a woman in traditional Japanese attire. There are also flowers tattooed near her, covering a part of Lucas’ stomach and a quote tattooed near the woman’s mouth.

Meaning: The tattoo on his side is called a Geisha tattoo and represents beauty and mystery. Lucas got this tattoo for his wife, Amelia Ossa Llorente who he thinks is as mesmerizing and intriguing.

Tattoo: Lucas’ back also contains a tattoo of some writing on it but the tattoo has never been fully revealed by him yet.

9. Writing Tattoo

Tattoo: The right thigh of the footballer is covered in a tattoo of some writing with the date, “15/07/18” just below it.

Meaning: The tattoo on his right thigh represents his victory in the 2018 World Cup with France. The date represents the date on which the final was played where France beat Croatia 4-2, winning the cup.
