“I attended CT Institute of Art in Greenwich Connecticut on a scholarship and graduated Valedictorian of my class in 1996. I began tattooing in 1998 and my previous studio experience includes Rainbow Body Art, Waterbury, CT, and Immortal Ink, Southington, CT. Some of my influences and idols are Big Daddy Roth, Norman Rockwell, Boris Vallejo, and Wendy Thornley- my high school art teacher that pointed me in the right direction. Thanks go out to my Mom also- if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

For him, art is nothing but another medium to express his innermost thoughts which makes him self-sufficient. He has involved himself fully in this practice which makes him flexible and versatile too. In his words,

“I just love art and see tattooing as just another medium. I also enjoy working in marker, color pencil, oil, acrylic, and pastel. I feel tattooing to be the most challenging and rewarding of all mediums. There is nothing better than finishing a tattoo and having the person say that it is better than they ever imagined it would be. Not to mention that I get to meet lots of interesting people. My other hobbies and pastimes include listening to music (from Heavy Metal to country), riding motorcycles, and working on classic cars. The best time though is just spending time with my family.”

It then expanded to a two-floor property in Cheap Street. It changed its name to Black Moon Tattoos and Jo took in Jodie Young as a full-time tattooist. The studio now has 6 tattoo artists who all excel in their own ways! They have their portfolios ready on the official website of Black Moon Tattoos.

Bristol Tattoo Studio

Jo Black, the owner, and an exceptionally great tattoo artist has been tattooing since 2009 and started her own company a year later. She specializes in neo-traditional, victorian style, and gothic art designs but her inspiration is not limited to a particular thing. She lives to try different genres. She wants to work on as many portraits as possible for her. Her price per hour is £80 or £350 per day.

The question that has been frequently asked about the Black Moon Tattoos is that if they use vegan inks. The answer to this is yes. They have started using vegan inks in their tattoo shop. Not only are the inks vegan but the whole process of inking that they use is vegan friendly. The owner says, “The answer, in short, is yes we do. Most tattoo inks are now vegan and certainly, all the brands we use at Black Moon are.”

Bristol Tattoo Studio

The tattoo artist at Black Moon Tattoos uses much disposable stuff like vaseline, cling film, carbon paper, disposable razors, cartridges, soaps, and balms. They avoid things that incorporated products like beeswax, lanolin, and honey, and even glycerin which is not ethically produced and is not really vegan friendly. But besides this, there are some products which they use that are produced by companies that do not produce vegan products totally.

These things are very essential to the process of tattoo making and they are also well received by their vegan customers as they form an indispensable part of tattooing. At this view, the owner says that “Some of these things are items that many of our vegan customers (and there are a lot) are happy to ‘overlook’ because they are necessary to do a tattoo, however, some vegans seek out studios that make an effort to source alternative ‘vegan-friendly versions of these things. However, they are often very difficult to get hold of and much more expensive so many studios cannot maintain this ethical standard 100% of the time.”

I am Hannah and I don’t like writing about myself so I usually do it in the third person to pretend it isn’t me who is doing it.
I love tattooing animals, pet portraits, plants of any kind, lovely ladies, nature, and weird stuff. I think I’m pretty good at tailoring designs to specific people, but I think the best tattoos are always a collaboration between artist and client.
If like me, you love to talk to disguise awkward silences or the pain of tattooing then I might be a good match.
I am pretty chatty so if you wanna sit in silence I might annoy you, I’ll try my best. I used to be an illustrator but I have now been tattooing since 2010 and still love it more than anything I’ve ever done.
Bryoni is another artist at Whispering Weeds Tattoo who is as talented as any other artist you will come across in Whispering Weeds Tattoo.  She explains her interests saying, I’m 28 years old and enjoy raves, pies, and long walks on the beach. Bristol Tattoo Studio
This if one is looking or something unusual or pretty different, she is the girl you must call out to. She is also a great hand poke artist which means that she is not too huge on using tattoo machines. She still strives to make her designs precise and very delicate. She takes steps one dot at a time. She explains her love and passion in her own words saying,

“I love dot work, geometric patterns, all things nature-inspired, and any kind of weird historic illustration. I enjoy working with clients to make their ideas a reality and I strive to make each piece both delicate and bold. Before the tattooing, I trained and worked as both a sculpture conservator and an ecologist, so I love doing tattoos for nature geeks or anyone who appreciates old metalwork tools! Handpicking is generally slower than machine tattooing, it also heals very quickly and most people find it much less painful. It’s well suited to delicate areas of skin and I especially enjoy tattooing ears and palms.”
