Willow Camille Reign Smith, famous by her first name, Willow, or often referred to as is a well-known American singer and actress. Willow is known to have made her debut in 2007 via the film I Am Legend, along with her father, Will Smith. Later in 2010, she made her music debut with the single “Whip My Hair,” which peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also earned her a nomination for Video of the Year at the 2011 BET Awards.
Willow is the daughter of actress-musician Jada Pinkett Smith and actor-musician Will Smith.
Just like other stars, she is also known to be a tattoo lover, and here, through this article, you can look into the fantastic stories behind every tattoo that exists on her body.
1. ‘Saraswati’ Tattoo
Tattoo: Willow has a beautiful tattoo of Goddess Saraswati sitting inside the lotus flower across her right hand.
Goddess Saraswati is often shown as the religious and elegant woman sitting with four arms seated either over a lotus or a swan and is shown playing the veena. She illustrates a fondness for arts, understanding, knowledge, and harmony. Willow was captured saying that she is actually into the Goddesses that act as the presentation of godly feminism.
“I’ve also been into goddesses throughout history, mythology, and religion — representations of the divine feminine.”
2. Flower Tattoo
Tattoo: On Willow’s left upper arm, we can see the simplistic flower tattoo inked.
Flower tattoo meanings are as varied as they are multi-layered; in ancient societies, flowers were a direct illustration of god’s satisfaction. Flowers are frequently used to symbolize the love between two couples nowadays. They can reflect happiness, joys, freshness, and new beginnings.
3. Shoulder Tattoo
On her left upper arm, Willow has got an incredible galaxy design, which she got tattooed in March 2022. This tattoo expresses her love for the celestial things and aspects, as revealed by her in an interview.
“I’ve always been into everything and anything extraterrestrial,” she recalled. “I’ve also been into goddesses throughout history, mythology, and religion — representations of the divine feminine.”
“He was actually the one that I was most nervous about. I showed it to him and he was like, ‘Everything is in divine order. Your path is your path and I just love you.’ And I’m glad that you got something that actually looks nice.’
4. Matching Family Tattoo-Blossoming Lotus
Tattoo: Willow, along with her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her grandmother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, got the lotus flowers tattooed in May 2020.
It happened during their appearance on the show “Red Table Talk” on Facebook Watch. They had requested Dr. Woo to develop a lotus, not as a single flower but to get it inked in the form of various stages of the growth of the lotus flower, which is often viewed as a symbol of rebirth. Rather than one lotus tattoo, they agreed to get a trio showing the various stages of the lotus flowers.
The Lotus flower is thought to signify rising over temptation and becoming a better person in general. In Hinduism, lotus blossoms are known as the Padma and are said to represent attractiveness, purity, and spiritual enlightenment.
“The lotus represents spiritual enlightenment and we hear this saying, ‘Through the mud grows the lotus,'” Smith said of the symbolism of the ink, which they all got on their arms.
“And I think all of us from different practices in life have had that journey, the bud to the little blossom to the bloom. Also, I feel like [it] expresses the spiritual journey and the three of us. I’m the youngest, my mom in the middle, and Gam is the fully bloomed lotus.”
5. Tattoos on Left Hand
Tattoo: Across her fingers, there are multiple logos and symbols like a snake, a fishbone, a crescent moon, a full moon, an evil eye, another crescent moon, and a shining star.
The full moon is frequently connected with mysticism and change and is also linked with evolution, blurred lines, and mystical means.
The delicacy of fish bones speaks eloquently about their otherworldly allure and represents independence, fortune, or endeavor.
Crescent moons, in particular, symbolize motherhood and fertility. However, the symbol is claimed by multiple distinct groups. It may also represent development, creativity, and embodiment.
An evil eye represents your protection from ill luck and acts as a means of spiritual protection.
