Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s 4 Tattoos and their Meanings

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, the young actor known for her role in “Never Have I Ever,” has started creating her own tattoo collection, with already four known tattoos at the age of 21. Each tattoo reflects her love for pop culture, especially video games and anime. While Ramakrishnan hasn’t talked much about what these tattoos mean to her, they clearly show her passion for anime and video games. It’s uncertain if she’ll add more tattoos to her collection, but considering her love for Nintendo, there might be more characters from games like Super Smash Bros. making an appearance soon. Read on to discover more about Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s interesting tattoo collection.

1. “Attack on Titan” Tattoo

We don’t know which of Ramakrishnan’s hip tattoos she got first. She’s been a big fan of the anime “Attack on Titan” for a long time, so it’s possible her first tattoo was about that show. The tattoo is an image of her favorite character, Eren, done by @lyn.anime on Instagram. “I finally met her!” the artist wrote with pictures of Ramakrishnan’s thigh tattoo on Instagram on June 4, 2022. “It’s an honor to meet you and I love it your work. Thank you for trust me.” Ramakrishnan thanked the tattoo artist in the comments, saying, “you are so talented, thank you again so much,” and added, “can’t wait for the next tattoo!” Ramakrishnan often talks about how much she likes the TV show on social media. “first time rewatching AOT since 2014/2015 and I feel so nostalgic. it’s been too long without eren,” she wrote with a show screenshot on Twitter on Jan. 30, 2022. On April 24, she posted a throwback photo of herself getting the Eren tattoo. “throwback to when I got the eren tattoo,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

2. Kirby Tattoo

On April 19 2023, Ramakrishnan showed off two new tattoos on her Instagram, including one of her “Attack on Titan” thigh tattoo and another of Kirby, the Nintendo character, on her left hip. “incoming: spain thirst trap,” she wrote with a picture of herself in an orange bikini. The Kirby tattoo, which is partly hidden by her bikini, seems to show Kirby riding on a star through the clouds. Just before she posted this, she had met Kirby in real life. “Well I met my hero and I was NOT disappointed,” she wrote with a photo of herself next to a life-size Kirby mascot on Instagram on Feb. 27 2023. “I got to celebrate the release of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe which is now available on the Nintendo Switch with Kirby himself! This was the best surprise ever!”

3. Hearts on Forearm

On April 24, 2023, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan visited Sugi Tattoo’s shop to get her third tattoo, which was of intertwined hearts on her left forearm. The tattoo is just above her inner elbow and has two cartoon-like sparkles on each side, along with what looks like mountains inside the bigger heart. “The most flattering angle,” she playfully wrote under a photo of herself lying on the tattoo table.

4. Navi From The Legend of Zelda Tattoo

In August 2023, Ramakrishnan posted some pictures from her trip to New York City. During her visit, she went to the Nintendo store and got a new tattoo. The tattoo looks like Navi from the famous video game “The Legend of Zelda,” and it has small sparkles around it. She mentioned the tattoo artist, Rachel Song, in her photo.
