I’m gonna start this one off with a story. A short one, don’t worry. So, I used to play in this garage rock band called Motherfuzzer (MFZR) we have a single out on YouTube, 2 EPs on SoundCloud, a mild instagram presence and a full-length 14-track album in the pipeline (that we are yet to mix, master and release). Throughout the course of our career, the drummer and the bassist (who share the same birthday a year apart) kept having disagreements and fights to the point where it was impossible for them to be in the same room together. Naturally, we broke up (or went into an indefinite hiatus as I like to call it). Those two, they are both exceptional musicians, headstrong, unforgiving, very driven and yes you guessed it right! they are Scorpios. I picked this topic out of the topic jar so I could understand Scorpios better, because when you write about these tattoos you automatically end up doing a ton of research.
Now, let’s find you hot-headed geniuses some rad-ass tattoos!
Meaning of Scorpio Tattoo Designs
Contents (Click to Jump)
Scorpio (♏︎) is the eighth astrological sign in the zodiac, originating from the constellation of Scorpius. It is one of the water signs, the others being Cancer and Pisces. It is a fixed, negative sign. Scorpio is associated with three different animals: the scorpion, the snake, and the eagle. According to The Astrology Bible, Scorpio’s colors are deep red, maroon, black, and brown.
That’s all good, but what if the maroon absolutely bores you to death?? and when has anybody lusted after a brown-colored object!? I have a very good system of dealing with astro-theories and the way they sometimes make you feel like you’re in the wrong if you do the opposite of what’s written down, it’s called “take the good and leave the inconvenient.” Seriously guys, strike a balance and life will work out just fine.
Check out the Scorpio symbol on the seal. Let’s talk a little about the constellation Scorpius.
Scorpius is one of the constellations of the zodiac and is located in the Southern celestial hemisphere. It is one of the 48 constellations identified by the Greek astronomer Ptolemy in the second century. Its old astronomical symbol is (♏︎). It is an ancient constellation that pre-dates the Greeks. It lies between Libra to the west and Sagittarius to the east. It is a large constellation located in the southern hemisphere near the center of the Milky Way.
Scorpius as depicted in Urania’s Mirror, a set of constellation cards published in London c.1825.
Did you know that due to its location straddling the Milky Way, this constellation contains many deep-sky objects such as the open clusters Messier 6 (the Butterfly Cluster) and Messier 7 (the Ptolemy Cluster), NGC 6231 and the globular clusters Messier 4 and Messier 80.
Star clusters are large groups of stars. Two main types of star clusters can be distinguished: globular clusters are tight groups of ten thousand to millions of old stars which are gravitationally bound, while open clusters are more loosely clustered groups of stars.
Scorpius and the Milky Way, with M4 and M80 visible near Antares, M6 and M7 just below centre.
All this star-talk almost had me floating in space and going off-topic like a dandelion in the wind.
Ideas For Scorpio Tattoo Designs
There are going to be countless star-map and scorpion ideas which we will get to in just a bit, However I would like to discuss some alternate ideas to keep things interesting and hopefully get your creative juices flowing. After all, you don’t want a tattoo that a thousand other people already have, do you?
Here’s an idea that I had at a rather unexpected time of day. Wouldn’t it be cool to get the Astro-chart’s Scorpio section as a tattoo! Hear me out, okay no- look at the picture first-
So, you can see the Scorpio symbol in the top left area i.e 10 o’clock position. What if, you got that pizza-slice-like section as a tattoo, That’d be kinda cool and refreshing right!? I’ve been looking at Scorpio tattoos all day now and I’ve gotta say I’m a little disappointed in people’s imagination powers.
Next up, I absolutely love this idea, a scorpion but in mosaic. Talk about being artful, if your artist can conceptualize and deliver something like this, then you my friend, will have a very boss tattoo that will gain you a lot of admirers. You will be sought after in tattoo-connoisseur circles and will most likely be having to raise your t-shirt up to let curious and excited fellow tattoo-brahs have a loot at it. So, be prepared.
The color-palette and the simple shapes make it a treat to look at. Definitely one of the best artworks I’ve looked at this week. Oh by the way this is a mosaic in Maltezana near Analipsi, Astypalaia, 5th century CE.
This little guy is so cute, I just had to share him! Who says scorpions have to be scary and icky-looking?
Another mosaic in a residential complex in the Jedlesee district of Vienna.
A collection of Scorpio themes and symbols, they’ve covered all the important ones. The chrysanthemum association is one I didn’t know before I saw this chart. Good Job ourmindfullife dot com.
And finally the different types of scorpions you can get tatted on yourself-
Where Should You Get Scorpio Tattoo Designs
The question is where can you? I mean if you already have tattoos before, you have limited choice and are probably running out of space to get more. If you’re not careful enough, soon you’ll be looking for some fresh clean skin to tattoo on and that is quite obviously going to belong to another human being. Wait! is this how tattoo artists become tattoo artists!?
Here’s the company recommended spots though.

List of Scorpio Tattoo Designs & Meanings
- The Attack-Ready Scorpion
Pincers clicking hungrily and stinger raised, ready to attack, this tattoo is for strong and alpha-like humans. The placement: neck, shoulder and part of the chest makes it a tattoo that is mostly visible but concealed when the wearer wants to conceal it i.e by wearing a business suit. Investment bankers come to mind.
- The Psychedelic Scorpion
A scorpion riding a frog in a pond. I love it! This is my kind of tattoo. A refreshing take on the whole scorpion idea. Trippers and voyagers of the mind will appreciate this piece.
- The Glitching Scorpion
The red blur/glitch-shadow reminds one of the video effect so many creators use for their social media reels and posts. I have to say, it is sitting well on the scorpion too.
- Keeping it Simple
The constellation, but without the connecting lines. Very cute and it’s placement on the shoulder is adding a really dainty vibe to the wearer.
- The Wrist-Glyph
The Scorpio symbol on the wrist. Nice. the curved arrow leading out of the “m” reminds me of the Devil’s rake.
- The Star Quiz
To be honest, I don’t really know what’s going on here but I’m sure there are some accurate references in this piece. If you like to confuse people, you’ll enjoy having this tattoo.
- The Pincer
Finally some ingenuity! The pincers move. Genius! You can spend several zoned out minutes amusing yourself at work, just don’t let your boss catch you. You won’t come out of that situation looking like the sharpest tool in the shed.
- The Enlightened Scorpion
Getting into some of the better designs, this one absolutely rules. I love how it is abstract and dosen’t really have a face kinda like the “Stranger Things” monster. Very cool indeed.
- The Devilish Glyph
A very stylized Scorpio symbol done in the red and black colors of the zodiac as we discussed earlier in this article. A good idea for a fast yet cool tattoo. Looks simple enough to get too.
- The Gangster’s Scorpion
If you wanna give off a gangster vibe and have the pecs to pull it off, get this tattoo. Notice how the lines are simpler and the only color used is black. Even in movies, I’ve seen that gang members usually sport monochrome tattoos.
- The Entire Scene
This tattoo has everything, the Southern hemispherical sky, the constellation, the connecting lines and the scorpion outline. I like this tattoo. Maybe you like it too.
- The Ankle Piece
About the size of an actual scorpion, this tattoo is kinda cute.
- Lady Scorpion
A lady’s face made out of a scorpion. Sexy and deadly. Well, sexy is usually deadly.
- Cool-ass Graphic Scorpion
This one reminds me of the vinyl graphics on custom cars from Need for Speed and The Fast and The Furious. If you love cars so much that you’d rather be one, get this tat.
- The Star Map
Cute little rendition of the constellation with planets on the dots and stars on the connecting lines. Looks good on the back too.
- The Gangster-ette
A monochrome scorpion on this woman’s back. simple lines yet very effective.
- Yet Another Scorpion
The four eyes on this scorpion are really freaking me out, plus his stinger’s dripping poison *shudders* and then there’s an eerie red sun in the background. Adventurous.
- The Foot-Stars
The constellation looks stellar on this foot right? Yes, that was an attempt at some clever humor.
- The Glyph Returns
A slight variation on the glyph discussed earlier, this time with an added flair on the left.
- The Tribal Scorpion
The colors in this tattoo are very vibrant and the palette is giving a very tribal vibe. The extremely light skin is giving a good background for the colors to pop.
- The Delicate Constellation
Behind the ears! did we discuss this in the where-to-get-it section!? I don’t remember. But behind the ears is a great place for the constellation.
- The Three-Dimensional Terror
A 3-d scorpion tattoo, you’ve gotta be nuts! A great way to make people jump when you show this to them for the first time. They even drew in the shadow and everything, some ballsy people right there I tell ya.
- The Effeminate Scorpion
A very pretty and feminine take on the scorpion, check out the eye. The stinger detail reminds me of the level 8 boss villain from Super Contra, the retro console game we have all probably played as kids.
- The Bold and Suggestive
Love it! Nice colors too. Always love lip artworks, The Rolling Stones’ logo turned me on to them. Another tribal themed tattoo with the added oomph of a lip biting on the scorpion.
- The Full Back Piece
The entire back is a scorpion and the scorpion’s stinger is a flower. Oh, if all stingers were flowers.. If you’re looking to spend a lot of money on your tattoo and really have something to show off to your friends, this is the one.
- Lower Torso Constellation
Lower torso constellation. Maybe it’s the wearer’s clothes that are really making this image pop. I dunno.. but yet another cool spot for the Scorpius constellation.
- The Magnetic Dust Scorpion
This one looks like somebody moved a magnet underneath a collection of iron filings and drew a scorpion out of them. An innovative idea, the aesthetics here are hitting the spot.
- The Scorpion-Glyph
Remember the Scorpio glyph, this scorpion has been made out of what seems like a collection of those glyphs. All lines follow the curves and themes of the Scorpio glyph. Another one of my favorites. A perfect Scorpio tattoo idea, if there ever was one.
- One of The Most Disturbing Images on The Internet
Drake must be a Scorpio, and the wearer must be another Scorpio who also happened to be a Drake fan (who’s a Scorpio.) Now I’m not much of a Drake fan (I skate a lot to his song “Non-Stop” though) but this guy most definitely is, I wonder what his girlfriend thinks of this tattoo.
- The Glossy Piece
A nice amalgamation of all the Scorpio themes and elements with the glyph as the centerpiece. A great idea for an arm tattoo.
So there you have it, 30 and more great Scorpio tattoo designs and ideas. Hope you had an interesting read and got to look at some artworks that inspired you to design and curate your own Scorpio tattoo. I am going to go catch up on some sleep and see if I can get my band back together before this year ends.
