He has worked in many techniques during this time and is quite the all-rounder artist that you need. He would be happy to have an appointment before your final booking.

He has been training in Johannesburg in South Africa in the 200s where he got a great knack for classic tattoos and further developed his art as he kept on meeting other talented artists.

Dan spent 3 years beginning in the South African scene before taking prolonged absenteeism from the tattoo industry to join the Royal Marines (U.K), where he worked at 42 Commando until released. Keeping his eye, and hand, the whole time he ultimately met his wife (an Adelaide local) and chose to come back to her hometown to settle down.

With 1891 Original Tattoo Co. Dan had a pretty definite plan about the sort of space he wanted to work from and design for his clients. During his time working in other people’s stores, Dan noticed that while some studios were wonderful in some fields they lacked in others, some set high importance on honors others the customers. After guesting and operating across Adelaide he came to understand the only way to get the right vibe he needed was to start his own original space. Thus 1891 Original Tattoo Co. was formed. Dan is proudly sponsored by Natures Grift Aftercare and Axys Rotary.

Eloise is one of the artists at 1891 Original Tattoo Co. who is an expert in a fine line. She has steady fingers and loves to make some amazing puppy tattoos.

Scott Middlin is another great artist who has started his career with 1891 Original Tattoo Co. He says, “Hi, I am Scott Middlin and I started with 1891 Tattoo Co in 2018. Apprenticing under Dan Millar, I have become a vital part of the 1891 team. I have a strong and positive attitude and outlook on life. I have been lucky enough to travel a lot at a young age. Seeing and being involved with different cultures and lifestyles.” He has always been into the Japanese and oriental style of design but having worked with many customers, he has pushed his limits and has moved forward. He in fact never belonged to the arts field before. In his words, “Before I transitioned into tattooing, I worked as a qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic for Toyota and Ford developing skills in building and servicing cars. This allowed me to build my own projects at home.”

One of his other greatest interests besides tattooing is playing music and he even has a band! He says, “Other than tattooing I have been involved playing music for over a decade.  I currently write and play music with my band Emecia. I’ve been successful in touring Australia as well as internationally. Not only has this allowed me to meet new people along the way but provides me with another outlet for creating art.”

Vaughn Oden has a typical artistic nature since he was a child. He has evolved however in his field and now works at 1891 Original Tattoo Co. as a full-time tattoo artist. He says,

I am Vaughn Oden, a proud member of the 1891 Original Tattoo crew. My tattooing career began in 2016 but my journey as an artist began many years before that. As a child I always had a fascination with art,  more specifically the art of drawing. Looking back I was highly influenced through Japanese anime and other forms of animated imagery which in turn inspired me to develop my own characters and style.  My early drawings evolved into larger, more intricate pieces, eventually leading to my addiction to street art and my venture into the world of graffiti which to this day plays a fundamental role in my approach to design.

For him too, music forms a great comfort as it helps him be positive in nature and inspire for his artwork. In his words,

Music is a great source of inspiration to me as well as the positive energy of the people in my life, my designs are influenced by the artists around me aswell as an appreciation for classical art. Prior to tattooing I was completing my visual arts degree at the University of South Australia, majoring in drawing & painting. Needless to say art is more than just an interest to me – I live to create and create to live.

When it comes to tattooing he is super flexible and would fall into how the clients want him to. Thus it makes him one of the most preferred artists at 1891 Original Tattoo Co. In his words,

I don’t conform to a singular style of tattooing, I strive to adapt to the clients needs and aspire to be the most versatile artist I can be. In saying that I do thoroughly enjoy a challenge, weather that might be covering an existing tattoo or conceptualising your collection of ideas into a fluent and tasteful design you are happy to wear for life.

Tattoo Artists in Adelaide

For him expressing creativity does not just lie in one form of art but rather in multiple art forms like photography, music, etc. In his words,

My passion for creating doesn’t stop with tattooing I spend my free time exploring a variety of different creative outlets from photography to woodwork, aerosol art and of recently screen printing. I believe expressing myself through different media keeps me motivated and the inspiration fresh. Art imitates life and therefore I model my life to imitate art.

5. Sam Deverson, Matt Deverson- Progression Tattoo

Progression Tattoo is one of Adelaide’s premier salons and for good reason. They have a very premier client list which impresses someone a lot. The artists too are varied and the vibe is also pretty professional but very relaxed. One cannot ask for more with this one. Since 2009, this tattoo studio has been quite a hit mong client. When you pick Progression Tattoo, you are in for a very unique and friend;y tattoo experience of your lifetime.

Wes Harrison is one of the artists at Progression Tattoo who is hard to track down because he is forever busy. Jumping between Black Wren in Bendigo and Progression, Wes’s performance is complete of vibrant colors. They also have an astonishing realism to them which makes his pieces all the more appealing.

Tom de Vries is akin to the other bold artists on this list, Tom’s illustrative tattoos are challenging sections. A one-stop concourse isn’t on the cards and the pain will only perceive to be sweeter as you look at the classic skill on your body. With Tom, you’re growing neo-traditional and Japanese styles. Very clear, extremely clean.

One of their tattoo artists that you should know about is Chiara Rose. She started her apprenticeship when she was just 16 years old. Since then, she has become a specialist in custom neo-traditional color tattoos. You can place your trust in her if you want a custom-made tattoo as well! Her aim is not just to provide an awesome tattoo but also a super enhancive experience fr all her clients.

Founded by Matt Deverson and Sam Deverson in 2009, they saw a lack for a premier tattoo studio in South Australia and after much reflection, they discovered their prevailing address in Unley near the heart of Adelaide. When you first enter the studio you will be greeted by the smiling staff at their waiting room. You can even find some reading, materials, some refreshments, and merchandise that you can browse through while you want.

In the words of the owner as well, “During your session we try and keep the atmosphere as relaxed as possible, providing you with movies, music, and friendly banter that will help make your time in the chair a little more comfortable.” The enormous upstairs space on Unley road has gone through many transformations over its history, but the one thing that hasn’t is the approach they have to give to their clients’ world-class service. Having a team of 11 artists with a comprehensive description of skills means that whether you are scanning for a large piece or something small, they can provide to your requirements in any size or style.

11 years on Matt, Sam, and the remainder of the crew are still emitting their souls into a place that they love coming to every day. You will have to really go into the studio to know why it isn’t your regular tattoo shop. Sam is the co-owner and manager at Progression Tattoo who works and looks after day to day running of the business. He makes all the bookings, answers the inquiries, and will be always with a smiling face.

Matt is a self-taught tattoo artist who has been tattooing professionally for 17 years. Matt and Sam started Progression Tattoo in August of 2009 which has since secured its place as a preeminent boutique tattoo studio in Adelaide. Matt has frequented several Australian and international tattoo conventions including the prestigious Bay Area Convention of the Arts in San Francisco and the Mondial du Tatouage convention in Paris. He has done guest spots at State of Grace Tattoo in San Jose and Seventh Son Tattoo in San Francisco California. White Fox Gallery in Germany. Tradition Tattoo and Westside Tattoo in Brisbane, La Flor Sagrada and Korpus Tattoo in Melbourne, and Lighthouse Tattoo in Sydney.

With a particular concern in Japanese-style tattooing, Matt has facilitated this enthusiasm by moving frequently to Japan over the past 10 years to develop a bodysuit from celebrated artist Shige at Yellowblaze Tattoo Studio in Yokohama. While he enjoys Japanese-style tattoos, Matt is happy tattooing any form or design. In his spare time, he enjoys watercolor painting.

Ryan “Maverick” Reeve has been tattooing between Adelaide and Melbourne for the last 12 years and the past 7, has called the Adelaide Hills home. With a background in graphic design, Ryan consumed the first few years of his career concentrating on building a novel lettering style and plan for his tattooing. While he nevertheless experiences doing these lettering-based designs, his enthusiasm for producing a new take on Japanese floral tattoos has grown by leaps and bounds. These flower designs are now recognizable around the world. These floral ideas have developed into larger pieces over the years with clients now traveling from around Australia and overseas asking for these beautiful flowers in their sleeves,  full legs, backs, and bodysuits. Nevertheless smaller one-off designs are always welcomed.

Apart from doing guest spots at Lygon St. Tattoo Co in Melbourne, Ryan has also served at many tattoo conventions around Australia as well as the Mondial du Tattouage in Paris. He wishes to visit more international conventions in the future. Ryan’s drive and desire to constantly produce new work mean you’ll find him painting small and large outlines in extra time, some of which was presented in the recent “Draw of the Orient” art show in 2019. Prints and original pieces can be found through his online store and social media accounts. He also appreciates working on logo and business designs for other tattooers and small businesses when he gets the opportunity. Ryan is open for commission work.

Ever since Tom de Vries was a child he’s had an interest in art. Growing up in the Barossa Valley he was profoundly inspired by his father who was an acknowledged comic book artist. Art was also a preferred subject throughout his schooling years. After completing high school he developed two short courses at TAFE in graphic design, as well as fashion. Tom began his tattoo apprenticeship at Ink Obsession in May 2011. For the term of his apprenticeship, he served at three studios. Gawler body art, Venom art in Prospect, and Ink Obsession in the Barossa Valley. He stayed running at Venom art for another year once he was signed off. In 2015 Tom left Venom Art to work at Progression Tattoo.

Tom proceeded to Progression Tattoo to peruse his favored style of tattooing, Japanese. He has constantly had an advantage in illustrative-based tattooing. He adores anything with detail, rich colors, and bold line work. Currently, Tom is concentrating his power on a powerful, larger scale, multiple session pieces such as sleeves, fronts, and backpieces. Additional methods of tattooing he enjoys are neo-traditional, geometric, and black and grey. Throughout Tom’s tattoo profession he has accompanied various conventions both nationally and internationally. His two particular preferences are the New Zealand Tattoo Festival in New Plymouth and Le Mondial Du Tatouage in Paris.
Outside of tattooing Tom also has a genuine concern for fine art. The means he has centered on lately have been ink and tea on cotton rag. He is currently in the manner of creating a four-part set of birds of prey in four seasons. Other than tattooing and fine art Tom enjoys music, film, and travel.

At Progression Tattoo you can find the best deal for custom Tattoos, Neo-Traditional Colour Tattoos. Some of the testimonials say a lot about the credibility of this tattoo shop. One such review reads, “Got my beautiful piece done by Chiara Rose who not only is an amazing artist but has great communication skills and genuinely cares about her clients. Getting a custom design drawn up is also super easy. Once you have decided what style you are after and who you would like to tattoo you, it is best to collect some pictures or references (these can be photos, drawings, paintings, etc.) that convey your idea or can give them an idea of what you want it to look like. You can start the process by sending them a private message with your ideas and your reference pictures (if you have some) please include as much detail as you can about placement, size. etc. Also please include your phone number, so they can contact you. There is a difference in larger works as well as smaller works of designs. Large-scale work is done over multiple sittings, working on the piece until it is finished. It is difficult to quote these as it is often unclear how many hours they will take. It is customary to spend an average of 3 – 5 hrs a sitting, every 2 weeks until it is done. This works out to between $600 and $1000 a sitting. Sleeves can take anywhere from 3 to 6 sittings, as can back pieces, depending on the level of work required for each specific piece. They also work to clients’ budgets and book in however many hours they can afford at a time.
Tattoo Artists in Adelaide
But there’s more! They also do cover-ups and fix the previous tattoo you want to get fixed! In the words of the owner, ” We do occasionally take on the cover-up/fix-up work. This is done on a case-by-case basis and we will only agree to do it if we believe we can achieve a beautiful result. We don’t really want to attach our name to things that we are not proud to have you walking around with.”
One o the rules that they follow while getting inked is that the customers are not allowed to bring in their children or anyone who is under 18 years of age. As per one of the artists, ” Under no circumstances can anyone under the age of 18 enter our premises, so please leave children at home. We prefer you to come alone and our artists also prefer to work without distractions and an audience.” Besides, they do not even allow people under the age of 18 to get a tattoo even if they have parental permission. It is against the law and they do not break it.
After you have got yourself inked at Wolf & Wren Tattoo Collective they will give their clients an in-depth sheet explaining the care instructions to care for a new tattoo. They also sell some products which would be beneficial for you to use after you get your ink.

Jaya Suartika has worked as a tattooist for a great many years, it’s obvious Jaya has such a progressive style range. Think contemporary, abstract, post-tribal, and pattern work, and you’d have his work in a considerable nutshell.
