Christopher Michael Settlemire, known as Chris Zylka is an American model and actor. He is known for his role as Jake Armstrong in The CW’s The Secret Circle, and The Leftovers, in which he appears as Tom Garvey. He has also appeared in several films such as Shark Night, Freaks of Nature, The Amazing Spider-Man, and 10 Things I Hate About You. He has modeled for Abercrombie & Fitch and has also appeared in magazines such as Wonderland, Bello, and Giamoholic as a cover star. Chris also enjoys painting and launched his first art exhibition in 2018 titled, “Why Use A Name”. Chris has some interesting tattoos on his body. Let us take a look at the ones he has and the meanings they hold.
Right Arm Tattoos
1. Hamsa’ Tattoo
Tattoo: The right bicep of the model contains a tattoo of a palm with intricate designs made on it. There is also a tattoo of an eye on the palm of the hand.
Meaning: The tattoo design is actually called, Hamsa meaning the Hand of God. Chris got this tattoo as it brings the bearer good fortune, luck, and happiness.
2. Roman Numerals Tattoo
Tattoo: The inner side of his right arm, above his elbow, contains a tattoo of the Roman numerals, “XXXIII” on it.
Meaning: The numerals translate to the number 33 which was his age when he got it last year to celebrate his birthday.
3. ‘Heart’ Tattoo
Tattoo: The right shoulder of the actor contains a tattoo of a heart. There is also a banner wrapped around the heart with a name written on it.
4. ‘Toy’ Tattoo
Tattoo: The side of his upper arm, to the left of his Hamsa tattoo contains a tattoo of a small toy dog which has been stitched together by different parts of different stuffed toys.
5. ‘Angel and Number’ Tattoos
Tattoo: The upper part of his right forearm contains a tattoo of a small cartoonish angel whose eyes have been darkened with a halo ring over her head made out of the blood. Her wings are also withering. Below the angel is a tattoo of the number, “5050” on the side of his forearm.
Meaning: The angel is present to show a deeper meaning of how the good ones are traumatized if they go through that much. Chris has never spoken about the number but it may have a special meaning to him.
6. Quote on Right Arm
Tattoo: The right side of his right forearm contains a quote tattooed on it. The quote says, “I’m not like them, but I can pretend.”
Meaning: Chris got the tattoo of this quote on his body as it represents his personality and gives a peek of what kind of a person he is.
7. Bird Tattoo
Tattoo: The inner side of his right wrist contains a small tattoo of a bird on it with its wings spread.
Meaning: Chris got this tattoo of the bird with its wings spread as a symbol of freedom and his adventurous spirit.
8. Design on Right Arm
Tattoo: The inner side of his right forearm also contains a tattoo of an intricate tiki face done in oval shape. There is also a word tattooed above the tiki design.
9. Key and Fish Tattoos
Tattoo: The lower side of his right forearm contains a tattoo of an old fashioned key. The side of his forearm contains a tattoo of a large fish.
Meaning: The key tattoo is both a sign of love as well as betrayal. The real reason behind this tattoo is still anyone’s guess.
Left Arm Tattoos
10. Mask Tattoo
Tattoo: The left bicep of the actor contains a large tattoo of a mask. The mask resembles a gas mask with two large glass eyes and an air vent below but it has been mad intricate and looks old with little horns on the sides as well.
11. Feather Tattoo
Tattoo: The side of his upper left arm contains a tattoo of a large feather that starts just above his elbow and then moves along his arm and ends at the backside.
Meaning: The feather tattoo also represents the freedom as well as courage which is why Chris got it tattooed on his body.
12. Footsteps and Words Tattoo
Tattoo: The upper side of his left forearm contains a tattoo of four footsteps with the words, “I love you” tattooed beside them. There are also two small tattoo designs on his arm. One is a small cartoon bee and the other one is a circular pattern with a line coming down from it on the side of his forearm.
Meaning: This tattoo has a deep as well as a really sweet meaning. Chris got this tattoo to represent no matter how far they go in life, he would still love his partner.
13. Compass Tattoo
Tattoo: The inner side of his left forearm, just above his elbow contains a tattoo of a large compass.
Meaning: The compass is one of the most common tattoos which represents the idea of finding a direction in life or a path which you want to tread.
14. Band Tattoo
Tattoo: The left wrist of the model contains a tattoo of a slim red band with a line tattooed on it in black which is very hard to make out.
15. Gorilla Tattoo
Tattoo: The inner side of Chris’s left forearm contains a large tattoo of a silverback Gorilla with different types of leaves done on the sides and at the top to complete the tattoo.
Meaning: This tattoo was done to cover up a few of his old tattoos which were a lion, a quote, but most importantly, the name Paris which was inked there. Chris got the name of his then-girlfriend, Paris Hilton tattooed on his forearm in the Disney font but when things did not work out, he got the tattoo of the gorilla to cover up the old tattoo. The tattoos which he used to have before he got them covered up by the large Gorilla can be seen in the photo below.
16. Hand Tattoo
Tattoo: Chris’ left hand also contains a tattoo of a few words on it but it is really hard to make out what is written on it since it has not been seen much.
