Quincy Matthew Hanley, known popularly by his stage name, Schoolboy Q is an American songwriter and rapper. In 2011, he signed with Interscope Records and is also a part of the Hip Hop group, Black Hippy. After signing with Interscope, he started working on his album, Oxymoron which was later released in 2014 and contained hit singles, “Man of the Year”, “Studio” and “Hell of a Night” that charted the US Billboard Hot 100. His songs, “The Heist”, “Studio”, and “That Part” have all been nominated in the Grammy Awards.

Face Tattoos
1. Letter Tattoo
Tattoo: The right side of his face, just to the right of his eye contains a tattoo of the letter, “Q” on it.
Meaning: The Q on his face is a hint towards his stage name, Schoolboy Q. There is another tattoo on his body too that hints towards the same as you’ll find out soon.
2. Clef Tattoo
Tattoo: The left side of Hanley’s face contains a small tattoo of a treble clef symbol, to the right of his eye.
Meaning: Schoolboy got this tattoo on his body to show his love for music and the career path that he took. Besides being a rapper, Hanley is also a songwriter.
Neck Tattoos
3. GED Tattoo
Tattoo: The right side of his neck, contains a tattoo of the letters, “GED” tattooed on it. The letters are encased inside the design of flames too. There is also a little dollar sign tattooed below his right ear near the flames of his GED tattoo.
Meaning: This tattoo shows Hanley’s love for the company that first helped him. GED Inc. is the label with whom Schoolboy released his first mixtapes. This is not the only tattoo dedicated to the company on his body.
4. Shame Tattoo
Tattoo: The front side of Hanley’s neck, on his throat, contains a tattoo of the word, “SHAME” on it.
Meaning: The word, “SHAME” is a reference to a song that Schoolboy himself wrote and released under the same title, Shame which is one of the songs close to his heart.
5. LA Tattoo
Tattoo: The left side of the rapper’s neck contains a tattoo of the word, “Los Angeles” on it.
Meaning: Hanley got this tattoo to show his love for his roots, the city he was born in, Los Angeles, California.
Shoulder Tattoos
6. Fuck LAPD
Tattoo: The right shoulder of the artist contains the word, “FUCK” tattooed on it whereas the left shoulder contains the word, “LAPD” on it. The word, “LAPD” has been crossed out by lines tattooed over it. There is another tattoo for his hometown on his neck. The letters, “LA” are tattooed to the left of his shame tattoo on his neck.
Meaning: Schoolboy got these tattoos early on in his career but later realized that it was wrong so he has it fixed by getting lines tattooed over the LAPD.

7. Schoolboy Tattoo
Tattoo: The word, “Schoolboy” is tattooed across the chest of the rapper.
Meaning: This is the other tattoo that represents his stage name, Schoolboy Q on his body. The other one being the Q on his right cheek.
8. Nifty and Michelle Tattoos
Tattoo: The right pec of the artist contains the name, “NIFTY 50z” tattooed on it whereas his left one contains the name, “Michelle” tattooed on it with a swirly design.
Meaning: The Nifty 50z tattoo was gotten by the rapper when he was with the gang.
Arm Tattoos
9. Joyce and Hiiipower Tattoos
Tattoo: The upper side of his right forearm contains the name, “Joyce” tattooed on it and the side of his right forearm contains the word, ‘HiiiPower” tattooed on it.
Meaning: Joyce is the name of Schoolboy’s daughter whom he adores very much so he decided to get her name tattooed on his body. HiiPower refers to the title of the song released by Kendrick Lamar, Hanley’s friend and another member of the Hip Hop group, Black Hippy alongside Hanley. He got this tattoo to show his love and support for Lamar.
10. GED Tattoo
Tattoo: The inner side of his right forearm contains another tattoo of the letters, “GED” on it.
Meaning: Hanley got this tattoo to show his love and respect for the GED Inc, with whom he released his initial mixtapes.
11. TDE Tattoo
Tattoo: The right hand of the artist contains a symbol tattooed on it.
Meaning: The symbol stands for the TDE record label with whom, Hanley was signed with from 2009 to 2011 and also released his debut album. He got this tattoo to show his support for TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) label.
12. 512 Tattoo
Tattoo: The outer side of his left forearm contains the number, “512” tattooed on it along with the words, “Figg Side” to its right.
Meaning: This tattoo refers to the address where he spent his childhood in LA, 512 Figg Street.
